Bakubung and Pilanesberg

On March 20th we drove onto Pilanesberg after visiting the animal sanctuaries. We drove on our own through Pilanesberg for about 2 hours and saw more animals in those 2 hours than we have before in such a short time.

We stayed in Bakubung Lodge near the gate and in Pilanesberg. The morning of the 21st we went on a game drive, then had lunch outdoors at the lodge, relaxed at the pool and with games, before going on an afternoon drive that concluded (in the rain!) at a Boma Braii (a BBQ held at a boma or place to have braiis outside - with dancing by natives although they only welcomed us with a dance due to the rain). We also saw cheetahs for the first time in the wild.

We returned to Jo'berg on the 22nd by driving through the park. We stopped and hiked through an iron age community in Pilanesberg. This was likely our last trip to Pilanesberg and we were glad to be able to share it with family.
